Stewardship Endowment Fund
In accepting a Conservation Easement, the Land Trust assumes the legal obligation to carry out the donor’s desires by upholding the terms of the easement--forever. The Land Trust is responsible for protecting the conservation values on easement properties and must be prepared to monitor and defend all its easements, including taking on legal battles when necessary. The Stewardship Endowment Fund has been set aside solely to cover the costs of monitoring and defending CDLT’s Conservation Easements. It enables CDLT staff and volunteers to make annual visits to each property and to gather current information about the land. As the Fund builds, it will insure CDLT’s ability to take whatever actions are necessary to uphold the terms of the easement.
